Nicolina "Ma" Sozio, age 89 of York, NE, died Saturday, May 16, 2015 at her home in York. She was born on August 4, 1925 in Lupara, Italy to Luigi and Maria (Tudino) Colabello. Nicolina was united in marriage to Ernesto Sozio on August 2, 1953 in Lupara, Italy. She was a chef at the Blue Parrott Restaurant in Louisville, CO from 1963-1971. She then worked at Pasquale’s Pizzaria until retirement. She was well known for her cooking, especially her sausage rolls.

Left to cherish her memory is one son, John Sozio and wife Joan of York; one daughter, Maria and husband Rich Sutter of York; five grandchildren: Anthony Asti of York, Ernesto Sozio and wife Timberly of Springfield, MO, Nicholas Sozio of York, Chad Asti of Superior, CO and Tina Asti of York; seven great-grandchildren: Dawson Sozio, Daeton Sozio, Emme Sozio, Ella Sozio and Parker Sozio all of Springfield, MO, Giánna Asti and Cecilia Asti of York; Also surviving are several nieces and nephews around the world; and her favorite dog Buddy.

Nicolina was preceded in death by her husband Ernesto Sozio; father Luigi Colabello; mother and step-father, Maria and Mike Collacci; two brothers, Pasquale Colabello and Luciano Colabello; and one sister Lidia Melchior.

 

Services

A Rosary Service will be held at 6:30 pm, Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in York, Nebraska. Visitation will be from 1-4 pm Wednesday at Metz Mortuary in York, Nebraska with the family greeting friends at the church following the Rosary.

Funeral services will be at the Immaculate Conception Church in Lafayette, CO at 1:00 pm on Friday, May 22, 2015 with interment in the Louisville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Asercare Hospice in York, NE.
