Alice Lepine

March 9th, 1922November 2nd, 2022

Alice Marie (Tarantino) Lepine passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2022, in Lafayette, Colorado. She was 100. Alice was born March 9, 1922, to Rosa Poccia and Francesco Tarantino in Stamford, Connecticut. Her parents emigrated to the United States from Santa Maria Infante, Italy, early in the twentieth century. She graduated from Stamford High School in 1940. After her mother's death in 1941, Alice helped care for her nieces and nephews and her youngest sister, Anita, for several years. Alice then moved to Bridgeport, Connecticut, and met her husband, Clement Lepine, at work. In 1965, Clem's job at IBM brought the family to Boulder. While Alice missed the East and her big Italian family, she found lifelong friendships in her neighborhood and among other IBM families. They shared many festive times; among the most memorable were their annual Christmas cookie exchanges. Alice gave empathetic and kind support to her friends who knew they could always talk to her. Alice was a Red Cross volunteer for many years at Burbank Junior High in Boulder. She was also active in Sacred Heart of Mary parish and volunteered in the community in other ways. Alice loved and sought to nurture and support her husband and children, her most important priority. She also enjoyed yellow roses, dancing, fashion, and cooking and baking for family and friends (especially during the holidays). She celebrated her Italian heritage, reflecting the determination of her parents along with her own finely tuned intuition and intellect. Although Alice mourned the loss of her mother every day of her life, her 61-year marriage to Clement brought her great joy and fulfillment. They danced together until the day he died. Her grandchildren revitalized her and brought her great joy and purpose. Alice was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, John, Salvatore, and Anthony (Bucky); her sisters, Mary Vitti and Millie Lobozzo; and her husband, Clement. She is survived by her sister Anita Sabato, of Stamford; her children, Michael (Margaret), of Evergreen, Lisa (Mark Bauer), of Lafayette, and Christopher (Ellen) of Newark, Delaware; her grandchildren, Etienne, of Lafayette, Michael Riley (Kelly), of Katy, Texas, and Leah, of Newark, Delaware; and her great-granddaughters, Amelia and Lily, of Katy, Texas. Addio cara mamma - vola via! A funeral Mass and burial will be Wednesday, November 16, at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Mary church in Boulder.
