Christine Ann "Chris" Ortiz

January 1st, 1951February 5th, 2019

Christine (Chris) Ann Ortiz, age 68, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandma, and niece, passed away on February 5, 2019 in the morning’s early hours.

She was the third of four children born to Donald and Barbara (Thomas) Wollenhaupt of Englewood, Colorado. After graduating Englewood High School, she married her high school sweetheart and became a devoted homemaker. She then attended Mile High Court Reporting College as well as becoming a successful entrepreneur, owning multiple businesses.

Chris was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her siblings, Lynda Wollenhaupt Prien, Richard “Ric” Wollenhaupt and Peggy Wollenhaupt Proctor. Chris leaves behind her loving family, including her husband Dean Ortiz; sons Justin Ortiz, Ryan Ortiz, Kevin Ortiz, daughter-in-law Erika Ortiz, and granddaughters Chelsea Ortiz and Heather Ortiz. She will be greatly missed by nephew Ben Proctor (Gabriela Carvalho) and niece Stacey Proctor (Jill Proctor); great-nephew Calvin Proctor and great-nieces Hadley Proctor and Cecilia Carvalho.

She supported those in her life by attending countless wrestling matches and school performances. She is remembered by many people in the community as a second mother, loving her children's and grandchildren’s friends like her own. Chris spent much of her time with her granddaughters, helping them grow into adulthood. She was a lifelong Broncos and NASCAR enthusiast. She loved to have outdoor adventures including boating, waterskiing, golfing, and becoming the Lodge Lady to welcome all those out from the cold on ski/snowboard vacations. She loved music, whether in the form of listening to old record albums, attending concerts, watching the Country Music Awards, or rocking out at home to Timmy (Tim McGraw)  while watching Jimmie (Jimmie Johnson) on the TV.

Chris was passionate about life with an uncanny sense of humor and a generous, loving heart.

In lieu of flowers, please honor her memory by donating to support victims of domestic violence through The Family Tree, a Denver-based organization she held close to her heart. Their physical location as well as donation information can be found on their website at www.thefamilytree.org. Condolences

chris Chris w ill be missed by all her family and friends. I had the pleasure of working with Chris at a auto brokerage, picking up and delivering cars. She was always good for a funny story and laugh.
Dear Family, I send to you my heartfelt condolence on the loss of your dear family member. May John 5:28,29 truly strengthen you to reflect on God’s promises to bring back to life your dear loved one to a beautified earth where she can be reunited with her family, and never have to get sick and die, ever again. (Psalm 37:11,29; Isaiah 33:24)
Dean and family, May you find peace knowing Chris is with God and surrounded by her family. I will miss her dearly! We shared the same birthday and were friends since 7th grade. She was always full of life even when she was sick. She has left us all memories we’ll never forget. RIP my soul sister! Vicki Farner Civello
My sweet dear friend Chris, I meet you and Dean at a very young age of 18. You invited me into your home and introduced me to kamikazes. I remember thinking you and Dean were the coolest old people I ever meet. Over the years we became good friends working for each other and with each other. I remember your increadable laugh and hear it as I type this message. I love you and will always miss you. Thanks for all the great memories. Sleep well my girl.
To The Ortiz Family, Losing someone we love is never easy, but we must be thankful for the memories we shared with them. Chris was an awesome woman that touched my heart! I met Chris and Dean almost 20 years ago. Chris was one of my best friends. This is heartbreaking. I pray to God that he provides of us that loved her with comfort during this difficult time. I am here if you need anything. She will truly be missed! Maria
Sorry for your loss, but as we know this is part of life. I only met Chris a couple of times. She seemed like an awesome lady, and do know she was Dean's love. Dean, Kevin and boys push forward thought rough, but life is short. You will see her again. Dre
