Charles Thomas Certain

Longtime Lafayette, CO resident Charles Thomas Certain, passed away Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Lafayette. He was 80 years of age.

Charles was born to Ella (Dixon) and Earl F. Certain on December 20, 1937 in Reno, Nevada. He grew up in Reno and attended school there. He left high school early to join the United States Army to help support his mother.

While serving in the Army, he met and later married Bonnie Ann Morris in Mt. Clements, Michigan. After serving his country, he was honorably discharged in 1957. Charles then went to work as a pressman on the offset press for Lockheed-Martin. He worked in that position for 38 years before retiring.

Charles enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing, and camping. He avidly enjoyed watching westerns on T.V. and reading every Louis L'Amour book written. Charles enjoyed reading the New Testament. His favorite books in the Bible were the writings of Paul in Acts and Romans.  He was an accomplished woodworker and spent many hours making toys for his grandchildren and their families.

Preceding Charles in death were his parents, his wife Bonnie, his son Don Certain, his daughter Louise Bryant, and siblings Jerry Certain and Ruth Certain.

Family members left to cherish his memory are his sons; Jerry Certain and his wife Laurie of Thornton, Al Certain and his wife Jill of Aurora, William Certain and his wife Terri of Westminster, and Greg Bryant and Leva of Broomfield. He is also survived by his sister Betty Parsons of Reno, Nevada. Surviving grandchildren are Gregory Bryant, Joey Bryant, Andy Bryant, Desirae Sweetalla, Samantha Certain, Zachary Certain, Andy Bryant, Kendra Certain, Whitney Betzel, and Hayden Certain. Great grandchildren; Kobyn Sweetalla, Cade Bryant, Addaleigh Sweetalla, Landyn Sweetalla, Jace Bryant, Kinsley Betzel, and Layla Louise Bryant.

Funeral services for Charles will be Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at 11:00AM at Darrell Howe Mortuary in Lafayette. His body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. He will be laid to rest beside his loving wife Bonnie Ann directly following the service, in Louisville Cemetery. There will be a luncheon following at the VFW hall in Lafayette.

The family suggests memorials be made in Charles’ name to the Denver Dumb friends League.
