Aurora Lujan

Longtime Lafayette resident Aurora Lujan, died Friday, August 31, 2018, at her home with her family by her side.

She was 85 years old. She was born in Rainsville, NM on March 1, 1933, the daughter of Frank and Anita (Mascarenas) Mora. She grew up and attended school in Rainsville. On December 7, 1951, She was united in marriage to Juan De Dios Lujan in Mora, NM.

Aurora enjoyed cooking and watching her beloved Chicago Cubs. She cherished the time spent with her family and caring for her grandchildren.

Preceding Aurora in death were her parents, her husband Juan De Dios Lujan, her son Pas Frank Lujan, siblings Angie Barela, Dan Mora, Mary Mora, Elsie Mora, Louie Mora, John Mora, Patrick Mora, and Anna Mae Mora.

Surviving family members include her children Jessica Abeyta and her husband Jim, John Lujan and his wife Lucy, Andrea Montemayor and her husband Bob, Arthur Lujan, Lori Lujan, Mike Lujan, and daughter-in-law Debra Lujan. Surviving grandchildren are Jamie Abeyta and her husband Chris Nay, Jodie Ferrera and her husband Robert, Johnny Lujan, Anthony Lujan, Robert Montemayor and his wife Jennifer, Frankie Lujan, Marcus Lujan, Rachel O’Neal and her husband Patrick, Anitra Lujan, and Adrian Lujan. Great-grandchildren surviving are Tyrone Lujan, Jared Ferrera, Benjamin Ferrera, Sabrina Fernandez, Johnny Lujan, Alex Lujan, Alicia Phelps, Mia Lujan, Zachary Ferrera, Analyse Lujan, Lennon Lujan, Connor O’Neal, McKenzie Montemayor, Zanaya Lujan, and Angel Lujan. She is also survived by one Great-great granddaughter Aria Fernandez.

The family suggest memorials be made in Aurora’s name to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of Colorado.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, September 6 at 10:00AM, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lafayette.

Visitation with family will be Wednesday, September 5, from 5:00PM to 8:00 PM, with the Rosary being said at 6:00PM at Darrell Howe Mortuary in Lafayette.
