Leslie Donald Bater

Louisville, Colorado resident Leslie Bater died peacefully at his home, on Friday, May 11, 2018 with his family at his side. He was 71 years old.

He was born Leslie Donald Bater on October 27, 1946 in Churchville, New York, the son of Helen Beatrice (Leathersich) and Richard Erving Bater. His twin brother Weslie was born 4 minutes earlier.

Les grew up in Churchville and graduated from Churchville Chili High School in 1964. He went on to the Hartford Institute of Accounting in Hartford, CT. He served his country in the United States Army from March of 1966 to his honorable discharge in June 1972.

On October 28, 1967, Les was united in marriage to Eleanor Ruth Cannan at the Brighton Presbyterian Church in Rochester, NY. During their time in the service, Les and Eleanor spent time in Germany and Kansas. 

They moved several times for their jobs from New York, to Texas, to California and then to Colorado.  He went to work in the telecommunication industry at Xerox, AT&T, Mervyns, Centex Telemanagement, which was acquired by M.F.S. Telecom, then WorldCom.  His final work location was with Level 3 Communications. He was a Telecommunications Specialist in Network Configuration.

In his spare time, Les enjoyed his computers, his dogs, but especially his customized 1997 Chevy Pickup, which is in mint condition.

Preceding him in death were his parents, and his brother Raymond C. Bater.

Surviving family members include his wife Eleanor, siblings Kenneth E. Bater and his wife Gloria of Morongo Valley, California, Ruby I. Lewis of Churchville, NY, and Weslie R. Bater and his wife Sharon of Lafayette, CO.

Cremation was chosen and there are no services scheduled at this time.
