Kathleen Mordhorst Frey

Kathleen Frey (nee Mordhorst) of Lafayette, Colorado died on April 1, 2018.  She was born to Gerald and Geraldine Mordhorst in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and grew up in Boulder, Colorado.  She graduated from the University of Colorado in Boulder in 1972 with a B.A. Degree in Political Science.  After working as a legal secretary and paralegal with law firms in San Francisco, receiving her Juris Doctor in 1987.  During law school, Kathie did an externship for Justice Stanley Mosk of the California Supreme Court.  After returning to Boulder in 1988, she did legal research and volunteer legal work for Boulder County Legal Services.  In 1992, she went to work for the National Institute of Corrections, a small agency within the Federal Bureau of Prisons, where she served in various positions, including Registrar, until retiring in December 2010.

Kathleen married Marvin Frey in Novato California on July 16, 1977.  She is predeceased by her mother: Geraldine Mordhorst, her husband Marvin, and her stepdaughter, Terry Halvorson.  She is survived by her father, Gerald Mordhorst and stepmother Jane Olson Mordhorst; her brother, Roger Mordhorst, all of Boulder: her niece, Katie Mordhorst of New York City: her stepchildren, Jylette Frey-Pullan (David Pullan) of Northern Ireland, Mike Frey (Rebecca) of Rohnert Park, California, Greg Frey of Petaluma, California, and her step son-in-law, Robert Halvorson of Sacramento, California; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and her dog, Mitzi.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday,, April 6, 2018, at Darrell Howe Mortuary 1701 W South Boulder Road, Lafayette, Colorado at 2:00 PM.
