Westminster resident Rolland Kenney, died Thursday, January 25, 2018, with his loving family at his side at the Arbors of San Marino in Westminster. He fought stomach cancer since April of 2017. He was 76 years old.

He was born on a farm in Viola, Iowa on July 31, 1941 the 5th of 10 children born to Ruth Madora (Beach) and George Franklin Kenney. He grew up in Viola and graduated from Anamosa High school in 1960. He worked various jobs before joining the United States Air Force in the fall of 1963. He served during the Vietnam War and remained state side.

On July 25, 1964, Rolland was united in marriage to Karen Ballance in Boulder, Colorado. He completed his four years in the Air Force and the couple moved to Boulder to remain in Colorado.

Rolland and Karen built the home in which they raised their 4 daughters. Failing health caused them to move into a townhouse 16 years ago. Their homes always had a sewing room for Karen and a wood shop for Rolland.

He worked for IBM as a system technician until 1974 when he was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. Rolland enjoyed gardening and yard work as long as he was able to. He also enjoyed camping trips and traveling. He loved to visit with anyone who would listen. He was quick to make his opinion noted but communication had become difficult due to his hearing loss.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 53 years, Karen. He is survived by his daughters Diane Fronapfel and her husband Edward, Paula Coffman and her husband Clay, Susan Kenney, and Julie Barthel and her husband Clayton.
