Antoinette Velez Henry

March 20th, 1933October 2nd, 2017

"She made broken look beautiful and strong look invincible. She walked with the universe on her shoulders and made it look like a pair of wings".

Her name was Maria Antonia Velez, but known best as Antoinette Henry; she was born on March 20th, 1933 in East Grand Forks, Minnesota. Antoinette departed from this world on a rainy, autumn morning, Monday, October 2nd, 2017. She was home, and surrounded by her loving family. She was the middle child of a family of 14 children, and the daughter to Mexican migrant workers, Gabino Velez and Asuncion Delgado. They taught her the value and importance of family, the strength in dedication and love received through compassion.

Antoinette is survived by her five children; Ann Martinez, Kathleen Juarez, Charles Martinez III, Joseph "Joeboy" Martinez and Jessica Diaz. Her grandchildren, Matthew Juarez, Antoinette Juarez, Benjamin Juarez, Floyd "Nate" Juarez, Sarah Martinez Price, Charles Martinez IV, Tory Juarez, Venita Mason, Grace Martinez, Joseph Martinez and Diego Diaz. Her twenty-two great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. Her four sisters, Josephina Perales, Grace Romero, Esperanza Matuza, Maria Elena Velez and her brother, Gabino "Jay" Velez.

She was the core of her family and enjoyed the many gatherings, camping trips and time spent just talking about life. She shared her love and enthusiasm for life and compassion with everyone that knew her. Her smile could brighten any day and her eyes always twinkled with joy. Antoinette was the foundation of a legacy, her family, and what she treasured most in this world.

Antoinette was one of a kind and her spirit will live on in the joyful memories of those who knew and loved her. She will forever be our "Nana".
