Elizabeth Catherine "Cate" Britton

August 10th, 1975July 12th, 2017

Boulder resident Elizabeth Catherine “Cate” Britton, passed away Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at her home in Boulder. She was 41 years old.

Cate was born Elizabeth Catherine Britton on August 10, 1975 in Jefferson City, Missouri, the daughter of William Warren Britton and Ann Marie Bailey.

In 1984, Cate, Ann Marie, and sister Chloe went on an adventure and moved to Boulder where Cate grew up and made lifelong friends.  She loved to create and designed beautiful clothing for her dolls, wrapped exquisite presents which made holidays special, and was an avid reader.

Cate had a strong passion for beauty and fashion and excelled in Cosmetic Artistry with the Christian Dior and Clinique lines of cosmetics.  Her proudest accomplishment are her beautiful children, Anabel and Ollie.  Her style and love of fashion was apparent in her dedication and special attention given to the special, unique and beautiful clothes she chose for her children. Shopping for her kids was thrilling for her and she made friends all over the country who appreciated her vision, care, and keen observation for a great deal.

She loved talking to her children about science, fairytales, and punk rock.  She taught them the value of appreciating peoples differences and finding beauty in simple things. She was dedicated to giving them every opportunity to learn something new, try new things, and applauded their accomplishments while showing them incredible love and unwavering belief that they can excel at anything.

Cate is preceded in death by her father William.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children Anabel and Oliver Britton, her mother Ann Marie Bailey, sister Chloe Bailey and partner Felicia Pless, and nephew Liam Bailey, all of Boulder.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at 10:00 am at Green Mountain Cemetery in Boulder. In lieu of flowers or monetary donations, we ask for written memories, recollections and photos for the children and family to cherish and preserve her importance to all who love her

Ann, Chloe and family, I send my heartfelt condolences at the loss of your beloved Cate. May you cherish her memories and the legacy she has left in her beautiful children.
They are not long, the weeping and the laughter, Love and desire and hate: I think they have no portion in us after We pass the gate. They are not long, the days of wine and roses: Out of a misty dream Our path emerges for a while, then closes Within a dream. --Ernest Dowson (1867-1900) She was a beautiful person. The likes of her we will never see again.
