David Emil Dimond

May 16th, 1952September 3rd, 2022

David Emil Dimond, 70, of Lafayette, CO succumbed to Covid Pneumonia September 3, 2022. Dave was born in Heidelberg, Germany May 16, 1952 to Lester and Virginia Dimond (nee Yenser). The family moved to Valley Stream, Long Island six months later where Dave grew up playing sandlot baseball and frisbee with his childhood (now lifelong) friends. He graduated Valley Stream Central High School in 1970 and then left for Kansas State University. He met his future wife, Patricia Dimond (nee Skahan) the first day of freshman year. They were married one week after graduation on May 25, 1974, and went on to live in Springfield, IL and Colby, KS before finally settling in Lafayette, CO. Dave worked at WFMB and KXXX radio stations, Tecnetics, StorageTek EDS, and Boulder Community Hospital before retiring in 2019. Throughout his life, Dave had many hobbies, accomplishments, and memberships, including Boy Scout Troop 254 Renegades, Eagle Scout, Cub Master, 1987 U.S. Space Academy Graduate, 1991 Regis College graduate, Knights of Columbus and parish council member. However, he was most proud of his family, including his three children Katie (Chris), Kevin (Molly) and Craig (Jen), as well as his four grandchildren (Camden, Charlotte, Corbin, and Cullen). His hobbies included anything related to space, astronomy, WWII history, vintage airplanes, classic rock music, comedy, and amateur radio. He was a “one in a million” guy who always had a warm smile and twinkle in his eye who never met a stranger and was the best hugger in the world.

His survivors include his loving wife Pat, his three children, their spouses and grandchildren, his sister Louise (Dave), and his sister-in-law Tess, as well as four amazing nieces, their families, and many loving cousins.
