Richard Lee Hayward

September 3rd, 1933November 21st, 2021

Richard Lee Hayward passed away on November 21, 2021 after a lengthy ordeal with Alzheimer's disease. He was born on September 3, 1933 in Terre Haute, Indiana to parents, Charles and Bessie (Young) Hayward. He married Beth Thomas in 1956 in Terre Haute, then moved to Colorado where Dick worked at Arapahoe Chemical Company which became Syntex Chemicals. He was honored in "Who's Who in the West" for his volunteer work with the Attention Homes, Boy Scouts of America, and oversea mission trips to Haiti and Alaska.

Dick loved genealogy, spending countless hours traipsing through cemeteries before the internet made searching armchair friendly. He was excited to find his ancestor's 1635 marriage record on a trip to England. He enjoyed traveling all over the world, ending with his final trip to Iceland and Greenland.

Dick was happiest when he was fixing things, whether it was a problem at the apartments, the boiler at church, helping a neighbor, or mentoring the grandchildren.

Dick is survived by his wife, Beth; his older brother, Pat; his children, Donna, Tom, and Carol; and by his grandchildren, Michael, Jennifer, Jason, Kevin, Nicole, and Cameron.
