Anna Carol Klemme

June 30th, 1932May 20th, 2021

Anna Carol Klemme, or Carol, as she was known, was born in Boulder. She was the youngest of the five children of Claude C. Klemme, Sr., and Freda Lena (Vernold) Klemme.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings Claude Klemme, Jr., Eleise Bloom(John), Elizabeth Klemme, and Howard Klemme, and a nephew, Pete Klemme.  She is survived by a sister-in-law, three cousins, nine nieces and nephews, and the nieces and nephews’ ten children and grandchildren.

Carol was a graduate of Boulder High School and attended the University of Colorado where she earned her B.A. She then went on to earn a Master’s in Library Science at the University of California. She worked as a librarian in Schenectady, NY, and Albuquerque, NM, before returning to Boulder to work at CU-Boulder’s Norlin Library for thirty years. She especially liked the work in the rare book collection.

Carol made numerous friends in the community through her job, the church, and volunteer work. In their later years, Carol and her sister, Elizabeth, especially enjoyed their friends and the community at the Immaculate Conception parish in Lafayette. Carol was a graduate and supporter of the Catholic Biblical School of the Archdiocese of Denver. She supported and volunteered with local service groups including the Community Food Share of Boulder County. She was a regular blood donor for much of her life.

Carol enjoyed books, classical music, and church activities. She also enjoyed the mountains, traveling, and her pets. She was one to readily give a new home to a cat in need. She was a fan of the Broncos, baseball, picnics, and board games.

Carol and Elizabeth were very fond of their nieces and nephews. They gave wonderful Christmas gifts, shared their love of books, and traveled with them. The aunts were good at lending an ear and making kids feel heard and respected.

Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, June 11th beginning at 11am at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Please call the church office at (303) 665-5103 for any questions about COVID restrictions.
