Carole Jean Brennan

May 1st, 1935May 21st, 2021

Carole Jean Brennan passed peacefully in her sleep Friday, May 21, 2021.  Jean was born in Colorado Springs on May 1, 1935 to Bruce & Esther Lipscomb.  She moved with her family to Rifle, Colorado in September, 1949 and attended Rifle High School where she was a cheerleader, in the marching band, voted Homecoming Queen and graduated as the Valedictorian of the class of 1953.  On September 6th of that same year, she married James A Brennan prior to his leaving for military training in the Army.  Jean moved to Clarksville, Tennessee once Jim was stationed in Fort Campbell, Kentucky.  Upon Jim’s discharge in 1955, they moved to Boulder, Colorado.  1984 found them in Louisville, Colorado followed by a move to Lafayette in 1995.

Jean enjoyed gardening and had beautiful gardens in every home she lived in.  She also enjoyed reading, working puzzles of many kinds, family trips and international traveling with Jim, and for several years dabbled in water color painting.  Many of her finished works are hanging in her children’s and grandchildren’s homes.

Jean was a loving and devoted wife and a dedicated mother who attended to their six children and managed the household.  The successes of their children were in large part attributed to her dedication and support.  After their children were in school full-time, she held a couple of part-time jobs to keep her busy.  In later years, she volunteered alongside Jim for AARP during tax seasons. She enjoyed greeting the people and directing them to the next available representative.

Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Jim, her parents, Bruce and Esther Lipscomb and her sister, Shirley Lorimor.  She is survived by her children:  Jane Brennan, Sherry Harding (Kevin), Randall Brennan (Jennifer), Kelly Bechard, Amy Johnson (Dan) and David Brennan (Maureen). She is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Stephanie Kirkwood, Steve Bowman (Linnea), step-grandson Devin Harding (Kayla), Jordan Brennan, Matt Brennan, Justin Bechard (Alicia), Ben Bechard, Adam Johnson, Chad Johnson, Kiel Brennan (Amanda), Nick Brennan and Lauren Brennan.  She is further survived by 7 great-grandchildren: Sidney, Rylie & Eli Bowman, Charli Brennan, Sawyer and Dustyn Bechard and Gunnison Brennan

We had the honor and pleasure of living next door to Jean and Jim for over 20 years! Such a sweet, loving and caring couple! They were also both so proud of their children, grandchildren and great great grand kids and were absolute joys to be around. They are both missed very much and we are comforted that at least they are together again in eternal rest. Our heartfelt condolences to the whole family❤️❤️
