Stephen Anderson Nowell

February 5th, 1954March 7th, 2021

Steve was born in Booneville, Missouri on February 5, 1954 to Sheldon and Nancy Nowell. He passed away peacefully at home on March 7, 2021 surrounded by family after a lengthy illness.

His wife Kate holds him in her heart as "the love of her life". They met at a concert at the Boulder Theater in July, 1996, and it was "love at first sight". They were married just a little more than a year later. Together they had many adventures. While Steve enjoyed running, as a couple he and Kate enjoyed hiking, scuba diving, snowshoeing, and travel. They attended many concerts and enjoyed many excellent meals together over the years. Steve loved music, wrote songs, and played the guitar. A theater major in college, he loved to sing and dance and was a fun, gregarious person. He had a somewhat silly sense of humor and his mere presence could light up a room. It was impossible not to like him!

Because of his friendliness and kindness, he made friends wherever he went, having many of them all over the world. He nurtured these relationships always seeing the best in everyone.

Steve spent 40 years in the insurance industry, starting his work in Germany. After moving to Boulder, he continued in the industry then later started his own agency. His many clients respected his friendly manner, attention to detail and thoroughness in all that he did.

He is survived by his wife Kate Kellett, daughter Charissa Nowell, step-daughters Kelly Kaminski and Kalen Kaminski, his grandson Sebastian Carvajal, his sister Sheila Nowell Mannix, niece Haley Mannix, mothers-in-law Diana Dean and Daisette Kellett, sisters-in-law Kris and Josephine Kellett, brother-in-law Bill Kellett and cousins David, Debbie and Dale Greenbury.

Steve was taken from us far too young, but his lightness and love of life will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Contributions in his honor can be made to CurePSP.
